Service Areas

Daufuskie Transit currently services Melrose Dock, the County Dock, and Haig Point. We do not currently serve Freeport Marina.

Arrivals

We are about service with a smile! When you arrive on the dock, Daufuskie Transit will be waiting to take you and your luggage to your vacation home.

Drivers are easy to identify from a distance. They are dressed in bright lime green shirts. Our Ford E-350 vans have “Daufuskie Transit” printed on windows with our phone number.

Departures

When leaving Daufuskie Island, Daufuskie Island Ferry Passengers will be picked up as follows:

  • Sandy Lane, Bloody Point and Beachfield: 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes before boat departure.
  • Historic District: 45 minutes to 1 hour before boat departure.
  • Melrose/Avenue of the Oaks: 30 – 45 minutes before boat departure.

Water Taxi and Private Boat Passengers will be picked up 30-45 minutes before boat departure.

You will receive a TEXT MESSAGE on the number you provide in your Reservation the day before your departure, telling you the time you need to be ready the next day.

If your driver isn’t there as expected, Don’t Panic! Just give us a call at (843) 338-2570 extension 1. We are likely just a few moments away and are in constant contacts of Boat Captains.

Please be outside and ready with your luggage as scheduled!

During season, there is limited van space, limited drivers, and many people to get to the boat!

We are on a very tight schedule for departures.

Rates and Services

Our trailers on the vans are capable of transporting large amounts of cargo but please include any special items such as bikes or pets in the comments section of your reservation form. 

Please call to make a reservation. Please Include A.M and P.M in your departure and arrival times when making a reservation.

When making a reservation, please double check the information you are submitting; we will need accurate information such as the numerical address of your vacation rental.

Arriving and Departing to Rental

  • Melrose Dock and County Dock (ROUND TRIP): $30 per person 2 years and older for service.*
  • Haig Point Gate (ROUND TRIP): (You must arrange Transportation from the dock to the Gate): $30p er person 2 years and older for ROUND TRIP service.*
  • MELROSE DOCK and COUNTY DOCK (ONE WAY): $20 per person 2 years and older.
  • HAIG POINT GATE (ONE WAY): (You must arrange Transportation from the dock to the Gate): $20 per person 2 years and older.
  • Children under 2 are FREE; Pets are FREE!
  • UNLIMITED LUGGAGE included if we transport ALL members of your group. (Vacation related luggage, coolers, bicycles. beach items, etc. Does NOT include furniture, appliances, electronics, etc.)

* MINIMUM TOTAL FARES: $25 for one-way transit, $40 for round trip. (Single riders pay these fares.)

Dinner Transit to Island Restaurants

  • $16 per person 2 years and older – round trip.*
  • 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM; 7 days a week

* Minimum Total Fares: $30 for round trip

Luggage Only to/from Dock and Rental

  • Less than half trailer: $40 one-way*
  • Less than half trailer: $70 round trip*
  • Half trailer: $70 one-way*
  • Half trailer: $110 round trip*
  • Full trailer: $110 one-way*
  • Full trailer: $110 one-way*
  • Full trailer: $180 round trip*

*20% GRATUITY will be added for the driver for all LUGGAGE ONLY Transits.

Payment

  • Payment will be collection at the time of service.
  • Cash and credit cards are accepted.
  • Please tip your driver.
  • 20% gratuity will be added to charge for luggage runs.
